Self-Compassion Practice

Please check out https://self-compassion.org/what-is-self-compassion/#what-is-self-compassion. Kristen Neff et. al research has shown that being hard on oneself (especially when going through a hard time) is unhelpful. The idea of ‘no pain, no gain’ may be helpful at times, but overall can get in the way of preferred ways of being and living. Self-compassion skills practice is not about turning the negative (self-talk) positive, taking oneself off the hook, or patting oneself on the back. It is a pragmatic next level mindfulness skill in which one notices the harshness (intentionally aware, non-judgemental), and then pokes some holes in that harshness enough to move pivot in a preferred and more helpful direction.
